Kulgam shuts against militant killings


A complete shutdown is being observed in Kulgam district of south Kashmir, where three militants belonging to  Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed in a gunfight with government forces on Sunday.

Witnesses told The Kashmir Walla that all shops, business establishments, banks and petrol pumps are closed while public transport is off the roads, Monday.

They said that CRPF and police has been deployed in sensitive areas to foil any protests by the locals against the killing of militants.

LeT militants Suhail Ahmad Dar of Redwini Balaa, Mudassir Ahmad alias Rehaan of Katrasoo and Abu Muawiya, a Pakistani national were killed in an encounter with government forces in Khodwani area of the district on Sunday morning.

Police claimed the militants  were involved in abduction and killing of a police constable Muhammad Saleem Shah of Kulgam district.
