Kulgam gunfight: Slain militants belonged to LeT

The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday said that the two militants  killed in a gunfight in Redwani area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district  were affiliated with militant outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba.

In a statement issued a police spokesperson said that  the slain were Ajaz Ahmad Makroo son of Late Ghulam Rasool Makroo, a resident of Qaimoh and Waris Ahmad Malik son of Bashir Ahmad Malik, a resident of Arwani.

“As per police records both the killed militants were affiliated with LeT and were wanted in several cases for their complicity in a series of crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities,” he said.

Adding that Ajaz Makroo was a close associate of Naveed Jat and Azad Dada, “ Several cases were registered against him and the prominent among them include FIR No. 60/2016, FIR No. 45/2017, FIR No. 100/2017, FIR No. 10/2018, FIR No. 13/2018 registered at Police Station Kulgam. Similarly, Waris was also figured in several crimes cases.”he said.
