Kulgam encounter: Clashes erupt near site, Police says 2-3 militants trapped


Intense clashes between protesters and government forces erupted near encounter site in Motalhama area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district. The encounter between militants and forces is underway.

According to the officials, two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.

As reported by a news agency The Kashmiriyat, hundreds of protesters assembled and pelted stones on forces who retaliated with tear smoke shelling and pellet firing at near the encounter site

As locals told, announcements are being made on loudspeakers in the mosques asking others to come out and help the trapped militants escape.

People in large numbers from adjacent areas of Khudwani, Quimoh, Gofbal, Redwani are marching towards the encounter site.
