30-year-old Tariq Mir of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district is all set to make his debut in a Salman Khan starrer Bharat.

Mir rose into prominence after Bollywood director Imtiaz Ali  posted a picture on Instagram alongside Mir during his Kashmir visit earlier this year. Ali had captioned the image “with Tyrion Lannister of at Pahalgam festival”

The picture grabbed eyeballs across India leading to a Kashmir based daily  and an Indian travel agency reporting that Peter Dinklage was actually in town.

Fans allover India were taken by surprise only to later realize through media reports that the man Imtiaz Ali was posing with was not a popular game of thrones character Peter Dinklage but a 30 year old Kashmiri man Tariq Mir.

Not only were social media users fooled into believing that Mir was Peter Dinklage, even those present at the Pahalgam festival were, when they saw Tariq appear, flanked by troops, in the GOT costume.

Going by the trends on social media it looks like the 30-year-old Peter Dinklage lookalike has stuck gold and will be soon seen in Bollywood movies.

Indian national daily, Hindustan Times on Wednesday also reported about the development. Hindustan times posted a picture of Designer Ashley Rebello in which Mir can be seen with what they termed as Peter Dinklage’s lookalike.

“It would appear that a man who looks a lot like Game of Thrones actor Peter Dinklage is a part of Salman Khan’s upcoming film, Bharat. Designer Ashley Rebello shared a picture from the film’s set, in which he is posing with the Hollywood actor’s lookalike.” Hindustan Times reported.

Earlier Bharat’s director Ali Abass Zafar also posted a picture of him alongside Tariq on his Instagram yet again hinting about Tariq’s bollywood debut.

Tariq Mir was born in Mir Bazar area of Islamabad, in a peasant family. He first started acting during his school days and received an award for a performance. Later he started working in Srinagar, where work would hardly come by.

He started acting in dramas where he would usually perform comedy. He  has acted in many TV serials and has been performing for more than ten years now. Apart from Srinagar, he has worked in Delhi and wherever he got the opportunity.

Ali Abbas Zafar’s Bharat stars Salman Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Disha Patani, Tabu and Jackie Shroff. It is the official remake of the 2014 South Korean film. It is scheduled for an Eid 2019 release.
