The government forces killed Kashmir’s one of the old aged militants in a gunfight in south Kashmir’s Tral area in a brief gunfight wherein two other militants of the Jaish-e-Mohammad were also killed.
Abdul Hamid Chopan, a resident of Tral as per government sources, was aged 49. Chopan had left home in July last year t0 join the militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad.
The other militant Yusuf Dar of central Kashmir’s Budgam district is of the same age as per official documents.
Chopan was the father of Adil Chopan, a Hizbul Mujahideen militant, who was killed on November 20, 2017, in a gunfight with government forces in Gujjar Basti area of Tral.
Identifying the militant, the police said that it he is Abdul Hameed Chopan, whose son “Adil Chopan was also a terrorist, who was killed in an encounter in year 2017.”
“Terrorist Hamid was involved in killing of civilians. Identification of 3rd killed terrorist being ascertained,” police added.
On Saturday three militants were killed in an encounter with government forces in Pulwama’s Tral area of south Kashmir. A gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in the Nagbaeran forest area.
In the gunfight police claimed to have neutralised three militants including Wakeel Shah, a JeM militant who was accused of killing Rakesh Pandita, a BJP leader in June this year was also killed in the gunfight. The identity of the third militant could not be ascertained,
