In the old city area of Kashmir’s summer capital, a youth was killed in police firing after the Lok Sabha polls concluded on Wednesday.
Separatists groups led by Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Yasin Malik and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have called for shutdown on Thursday.
Reportedly, the incident took place when a group of youth was protesting, throwing stones, at a police vehicle carrying polling staff in the Nawa Kadal area. In retaliation, the forces opened fire at the protesters in which a youth got severely injured. He succumbed at a local hospital.
A few others received injuries and have been shifted to the hospital.
