A shutdown is being observed across the Valley in response to the shutdown call given by the joint resistance leadership (JRL) against the frequent killings in the valley especially south Kashmir.
As per reports all shops, business establishments, schools and colleges, petrol pumps remained closed here in response to the shutdown called by JRL against the killings in the Valley, especially in south Kashmir.
The shutdown also affected the traffic movement even as light motor vehicles were only seen plying on the roads of Srinagar
Restrictions also have been imposed in downtown Srinagar with heavy deployment of police and other paramilitary forces manning various checkpoints in the city.
Stringent security measures have been put in place in many volatile towns of the Valley to thwart any attempts of people to hold –freedom demonstrations.
