Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Monday said they are ready to extend expeditiously necessary assistance for those affected in the Jammu and Kashmir floods that have caused massive damages.

In a statement issued by the Japanese Embassy in India, the Prime Minister has also sent his condolences to his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, over the loss of life and property due to floods in Jammu and Kashmir and offered assistance to the affected ones.

“It expresses its heartfelt condolences to the victims of their bereaved families. Japan is prepared, if it is requested, to extend expeditiously necessary assistance for those who are affected,” the statement added.

“Japan was deeply saddened to learn that the massive flooding caused by the heavy rain has left extensive damages of lives and properties in northern India,” the PTI quoted the statement.

The condolence messages were also sent by Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida to External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
