If innocent killings don’t stop bound to call for people’s agitation: JRL

While strongly denouncing the killing of 14-year old student Faizan Ahmed in Pulwama on Friday, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Saturday said that “if innocent killings don’t stop JRL will be bound to announce people’s agitation.”

It was said by a JRL leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, chairman of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) while leading a protest march in Nowhatta Srinagar, which was attended by hundreds of JRL activists. Faizan was son of Dr Abdul Gabi Khan of Ladhoo, Pampore who was killed in forces’ firing on Friday.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, JKLF chief Malik said Faizan was shot dead and was declared brought dead by his father who is a doctor. “This is the situation in Kashmir. South Kashmir has been turned into a military garrison where searches, killings are routine,” said Malik.

Malik said that scores of prisoners have been framed under frivolous cases by NIA and ED and lodged in various jails without any justification and trial. Malik urged the international community to take serious note of “the war crimes being committed by the lakhs of government forces and to ensure brutal violations of rights are stopped here forthwith.”

The protesters at the march were carrying placards, shouting slogans against the killing, nocturnal raids in South Kashmir villages and the killing spree in Kashmir stating that “repression can’t break the resolve of people of Kashmir.”

The Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik later in a statement issued here said that since the imposition of Governors rule in Jammu and Kashmir an “all-out war has been declared against the people and now minor boys are being brutally killed which reflects the government’s policy of ultimate repression aimed at forcing people of Kashmir and the resistance leadership into a submission.”

The leadership also said the recent report of United Nations Human Rights council has already “taken a kid off the gory chapter of human rights violations committed by the lakhs of forces in Kashmir.”

They added that the report stands as an eye opener for the rest of the world as how the rights of peace loving people of Kashmir are trampled under boots of police, military and paramilitary personnel.
