Hundreds of kanals of land retrieved by forest Deptt in Pulwama

A massive anti-encroachment drive was held in forest areas of Romshi  range during which hundreds kanals of forest land was retrieved from the encroachers.

Jammu and Kashmir’s Forest Department has retrieved Hundreds kanals of forest land from land grabbers as part of an anti-encroachment drive in Chowan,Romshi forest Range Pulwama,Range officer Pulwama  (RO) Mohammad Shafi Said today.

The team constituted by the DFO Shopian  carried out the drive on the instruction of the State government to remove encroachments from forest lands in the district.

The Forest Department today retrieved Hundreds kanals of forest land during an anti-encroachment drive in Chowan area of  Shopian district.

The staff of forest department faced stiff resistance, stone pelting  however, it succeeded in retrieving hundreds kanal of forests land from the possession of various encroacher’s, he added.

The team dismantled boundary walls and removed the brush wood fencing put up by the encroacher’s also dismantled one Residential house one  kottha and other walls,which was encroached by locals here.

The department is taking all measures to prevent the encroachment on forest land at every cost, Shafi said.

The drive was led by the range officer Romshi Pulwama,with other staff. (GNS)
