Hamid Fayaz elected Ameer Jamaat-e- Islami, wins by 79 votes

Jamaat-e-Islami  Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday elected Dr. Abdul  Hamid Fayaz as Ameer-e-Jamaat of the largest socio-religious party of the state.

Sources in the party said that Fayaz got 79 votes out of the total 160 casted, “ Ghulam Mohammad Bhat the present Amiri Jamaat got 35 votes,” he said.

Born in 1957 Fayaz has a PHD in Islamic studies and hails from south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

He joined the Islami Jamiat-e- Talaba in 1978 and served as Ameer- Zillah for district Shopian, he has also been General secretary of Jamaat-e- Islami.
