In a big setback for Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, the Supreme Court on Tuesday turned down his petition seeking bail challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the liquor policy case.

The Supreme Court asked Sisodia to approach the high court, saying that there are enough legal remedies available with him at this stage.

Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday and produced before a court on Monday. He was sent to 5-day CBI custody.

The AAP leader was arrested under sections 120 B (criminal conspiracy), 477 A (intent to defraud) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act.

The central probe agency summoned him on Sunday in connection with the alleged irregularities and corruption in the formulation and implementation of the new excise policy for the national capital.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader was arrested after over eight hours of questioning, during which his answers were not found satisfactory, officials said. (Agencies)
