Srinagar: Panic gripped among health workers including doctors posted at government medical college Baramulla (GMC) after their colleague tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The health workers posted at GMC Baramulla told that they fear contraction of virus after their colleague tested positive for the virus as government has failed to provide them adequate personal protective equipments (PPEs) to fight COVID-19.

They alleged that the equipments provided to them lack proper specifications and are not effective against this deadly virus; thereby put them at greater risk of contracting the virus. They also said that no protocol is being followed by the concerned authorities and this negligence may land them in trouble.

“The proper protocols and procedures aren’t being followed leaving the health workers at risk of contracting the disease. Even the para medical staff is without any protective gear,” said a health worker posted at GMC.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Dr. GN Itoo and Medical Superintendent GMC Baramulla didn’t respond to repeated calls. (KNO)
