Fresh snowfall breaks cold wave cycle in Kashmir; Srinagar-Jammu highway closed

Srinagar: The Jammu- Srinagar highway was closed for traffic after fresh snowfall lashed parts of Kashmir including the Capital city Srinagar on Wednesday morning.

Weather man said that severe cold wave sweeping the Valley was broken as the minimum temperatures rose above the freezing point.

As per meteorological department there has been rise in the temperature as Srinagar recorded a minimum of 5.2 degree Celsius, while Pahalgam recorded 4.9 degrees  followed by Gulmarg at 2.6 degree Celsius.

As per reports the higher reaches  Gulmarg, Pahalgam, Sonamarg and Pir Panchal mountain ranges received a moderate snowfall on Wednesday.

Kargil witnessed the coldest night in the state at minus 17 degree Celsius followed by Leh at minus 12.4 degree Celsius.
