Four killed as Army hits civilian vehicle in Kashmir


At least four people were killed and another three received injuries when an Army vehicle rammed into a passenger vehicle traveling from Sopore to Srinagar on Wednesday morning.

A local resident Iqbal Ahmed told The Kashmir Walla that four people died on the spot when an Army vehicle rammed into the vehicle near Noora Hospital, HMT Srinagar. Injured persons were taken to the SK Institute of Medical Sciences in Bemina, where one’s life has been said critical.

However the identity of the killed persons isn’t confirmed yet. Another resident Sakib Bashir said, “Soon after the incident happened local residents took to streets and started pelting stones on Indian forces and burnt the army vehicle.

“Tension has prevailed in the area after Army troopers opened fire at civilians, injuring a few protesters.” People have blocked the Srinagar-Muzafarabad National highway near the accident spot.
