Former army soldier Zahoor Ahamad Thokar is among three militants killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Kharpora Sirnoo village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Saturday.
Earlier in the day three militants were killed and an armyman was killed after a encounter broke out between militants and government forces in Kharpora.
The trio were identified as Adnan Hamid Bhat of Kareemabad and Bilal Ahmad Magray of Rajpora and Zahoor Ahmad Thokar of Sirnoo.
In a total seven civilians were killed in Pulwama taking the overall death toll to 11 after gunfight broke out in Kharpora, Sirnoo village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Over 60 civilians have been injured among which some have been referred to hospitals in Srinagar.
Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for a three day shutdown starting from Saturday after the civilian killings near Pulwama gunfight site.
The leadership also said that people will march towards Badami Bagh Army cantonment on Monday 17 December “to ask GOI [Government of India] to kill all of us at one time rather than killing us daily.”
