Drass freezes at minus 19.5 degrees Celsius, as cold wave continues across Kashmir

Intense cold wave continued unabated across Kashmir on Tuesday with minimum temperatures reaching minus 5.5 in in the summer capital of Jammu and  Kashmir.

Meanwhile temperatures continued to dip in the twin tourist spots of valley with Pahalgam recording minus 7.7, while  minus 7.6 in Gulmarg.

A weather official said that Drass in Kargil was the coldest place in Jammu and Kashmir at minus 19.5 degrees Celsius. Leh recorded minus 10 and Kargil minus 14.2 as the minimum temperature today.

Jammu was at 4.1, Katra 5, Batote minus 2, Bannihal minus 3.3 and Bhaderwah was at minus 2.2 degrees Celsius
