Since the on-field death of Phillip Hughes in last November, another cricketer – a Bengal batsman Ankit Keshri, 20, died on Monday after he had sustained injury during a Cricket Association of Bengal’s Senior one-day knock-out match on April 17.

He was admitted in a hospital for three days before his death. On Monday morning, Keshri suffered a massive cardiac arrest after which he was put on ventilator. Later, he was declared dead.

Keshri was a right-hand batsman and had been captain of the Bengal U-19 team in Cooch Behar Trophy. He was also in the 30-member India U-19 probables list for the 2014 Colts World Cup in the United Arab Emirates. He was also playing for Bengal A (U-23 side) in CK Nayudu national Championship.

Several cricketers and celebrities in India wrote tribute and mourned his death. Below are a few of them picked from Twitter:

The Kashmir Walla needs you, urgently. Only you can do it.

We have always come to you for help: The Kashmir Walla is battling at multiple fronts — and if you don’t act now, it would be too late. 2020 was a year like no other and we walked into it already battered. The freedom of the press in Kashmir was touching new lows as the entire population was gradually coming out of one of the longest communication blackouts in the world.

We are not a big organization. A few thousand rupees from each one of you would make a huge difference.

The Kashmir Walla plans to extensively and honestly cover — break, report, and analyze — everything that matters to you. You can help us.
