CM’s letter lands on Twitter

LetterIn what can be termed as a serious breach of secrecy, a Xerox copy of the letter written by the chief minister Omar Abdullah to union Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee has landed on social network ‘twitter’, courtesy a Mumbai based blogger.
The brief, three line letter is a reply from the chief minister to Mukherjee’s letter addressed to the chief ministers of all the states besides heads of various political parties seeking their views on the institution of Lokpal and Lokayukta for checking corruption at higher political levels.

Mukherjee in his letter had sought the opinion of the chief ministers and other political leaders that was to be sent to him by June, 6.
The Mumbai blogger, Aditya Mhatre, who has his twitter identity as acmhatre, has posted the Xerox copies of the replies sent by all the chief ministers and political leaders to Mukherjee but for Jammu and Kashmir. On Thursday, Aditya posted a question to Omar Abdullah on the twitter urging the chief minister to express his opinion on the issue, as sought by the Finance minister and with that also posted the Xerox copy of Omar Abdullah’s acknowledgement, sent on June, 7 in which the latter said that he was “having the matter looked into” .

Aditya on his twitter page wrote: Love @abdullah_omar response to Pranab Da’s request for views on Lokpal.… Sirjee, thoda time nikalo is lokpal ke liye.

Omar was visibly annoyed with the ‘leak’ and in reply to Aditya’s poser, was at a loss to see his signed letter posted on the twitter and wrote: @acmhatre how the hell did correspondence between a CM & the Union FM, even if it is only a straight forward acknowledgement, reach here????

To this the Mumbai based blogger just posted a link that provides the Xerox copies of the replies sent by all the chief ministers and political leaders to the Finance minister and hoped that by now Omar too must have sent his reply.

Aditya in his reply wrote: @abdullah_omar About your response on Lokpal as per this link The deadline has passed. Hope you submitted your response Aditya also informed the chief minister that he had accessed his brief reply to the Finance minister from a central government website that provided latest information on this subject.

He wrote: @abdullah_omar Got the link from @PRSLegislative to a govt website which can be publicly accessed. Why so surprised?
And Omar Abdullah visibly amazed by this link, in his reply said that he had so far not seen such an ‘openness’ from the government where official correspondence on various issues between the states and the centre are made public.

Omar on his twitter page wrote: @acmhatre @PRSLegislative I guess this is called “open Government”. Just haven’t seen this “openness” before. Its a good thing in long run.
