Srinagar: The Concerned Citizen Group (CCG) on Monday expressed deep pain over the recent killing of seven civilians in Kashmir valley’s Kulgam district on Sunday.

In a statement issued here, the four member group said that they are deeply pained at the recent escalation of violence in Kashmir and at the loss of innocent civilians’ lives.

CCG consists of Yashwant Sinha, Wajahat Habibullah, Kapil Kak, Bharat Bhushan and Sushobha Bharve.

Furthering adding, it said that the “local body elections could have been planned with sensitive political forethought and as part of a consultative process for more inclusive and extensive participation.”

“The issue of J&K is so sensitive that it is a sin to use it for petty political gains,” it further added, referring to the recently concluded Urban Local Body elections. “The situation is deteriorating by the day in that state and the GOI remains unconcerned. This policy will only lead to disaster.”
