BJP reacts to JRL ceasefire remarks

A day after Joint Resistance leadership (JRL) comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik, rejected Ramadhan Ceasefire announcement, by terming it as a cruel joke with the people, the Bhartiya Janta Pary (BJP) Friday accused separatist leaders of sabotaging the peace initiatives, and acting on the directions of Pakistan to keep Kashmir pot boiling.

“The ceasefire announcement was the good gesture from the government. Instead of welcoming it, Hurriyat leaders issued negative statement. Now it is quite clear that these “so called leaders” are taking dictates from Pakistan and are happy with killings,” BJP’s State General secretary, Ashok Koul told KNS over phone.

The BJP leader said that separatist leaders are playing politics just to run their shops and befool the people. “They love violence that is why they are always in search of something which can help them to play their politics.” Koul maintained.

The JRL’s statement came a days after the Centre asked its forces in Kashmir not to carry out anti-militancy operations during Ramadhan. The three leaders held a brief meeting at Geelani’s Hyderpora residence before commenting on the ceasefire issue. The trio called ceasefire as “operation halt”.

The leaders reiterated its appeal to the freedom loving people of Kashmir to make Lal Chowk chalo call for Saturday a grand success in order to send a clear message to the Indian authorities that the people of Kashmir would never compromise on the demand for their right to self-determination. “We also appeal people to shut all the business shops and offices on the occasion of Indian prime ministers proposed visit on May 19,” the leaders had said.
