Bijbehara gunfight: Six militants killed identified

Srinagar: In the early morning gunfight on Friday, six militants were killed in a gunfight with the government forces in Sekhama village of South Kashmir’s Bijbehara area.

One of the militants was identified as Basit Mir, a resident of Pushwara area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

According to the locals of Arwani area the body of slain militant Azad Malik alias Dada, a top Laskhar e Toiba commander, reached his home in Arwani area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

Among the six, other slain militants have been identified as Shahid a resident of Khiram Sirahama, Aanis Shafi, Firdous Shafi of Pulwama, Aaqib Najar of Waghama area in Bijbehara, reported The Kashmiriyat.

An army spokesman in Srinagar said that six militants were killed in the gunfight. “Six militants killed, weapons and warlike stores recovered. Operation in progress,” said the spokesman.

Police on social media site Twitter on Friday morning said, “Bijbehara Encounter update: 06 militants eliminated in the encounter. Arms and Ammunition recovered. Identities are being ascertained.”
