Anantnag shuts to mourn militant killings


A complete shutdown Thursday  is being observed in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district following  the killings of two militants in a gunfight with government forces on Wednesday .

Locals said that all shops and other business establishments are shut and public transport is off the roads in the town and adjoining areas. Adding that people in large numbers are marching towards the encounter site to witness the damage.

Two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militants, one of them  belonging to Doda district of the Chenab valley  were killed on Wednesday in a gunfight with government forces in main town Anantnag.

The slain militants were identified as Binyan Yousuf Dar alias Bilal Molvi, a resident of Khodweni area in Kulgam district, and Abid Hussain Bhat, belonging to  Suzan village in Doda district.
