Anantnag gunfight: Cop injured in clashes with protesters

A cop belonging to Jammu and Kashmir police was injured in clashes that broke out in Lal Chowk town of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district an encounter between government forces and militants is going on since morning.

Sources said that right after people came to know about the ensuing encounter, youth took to streets at Lazibal, Kadipora, Chee and other neighborhood localities of Lal Chowk this morning and threw rocks at the government forces deployed to tackle protesters in view of ongoing encounter.

And in the ensuing battle in Chee, a policeman sustained injuries after being hit by a stone.

Meanwhile, government forces have blocked all entry and exit points to Lal Chowk with barricades and razor wire.
