Coronavirus: Sunday market to remain shut tommorow

Srinagar: The weekly flea market in Srinagar commonly known as ‘Sunday Market’ will not witness a rush of shoppers on Sunday as the authorities have decided not to allow the street vendors to put up their stalls on Sunday.

The decision has been taken in wake of the coronavirus epidemic across Jammu and Kashmir.

Mayor Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Junaid Azim Mattoo has ordered the closure of weekly flea market for tomorrow (Sunday), saying that the decision has been taken as precautionary measure in view of coronavirus.

“I have ordered the closure of the ‘Sunday Market’ in #Srinagar tomorrow as a precautionary measure in view of #COVID2019. Have spoken to Commissioner, SMC and SSP Srinagar – instructing coordinated efforts to ensure all gatherings in Srinagar are prevented and discouraged,” SMC Mayor tweeted. (KNO)
