Militant killed in Budgam gunfight identified

Srinagar: The militant killed in a gunfight with government forces in Bugam area of Chadoora in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Saturday has been identified by Jammu and Kashmir Police as affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen, said Jammu and Kashmir Police.

A police spokesman said the slain militant is identified as Hilal Bhat from Armulla village of Pulwama. He also said the slain was affiliated with Hizbul Mujahideen outfit.


While taking on micro-blogging, Twitter, JK police wrote,
“#Budgam #Encounter Update: Killed #terrorist has been identified as Hilal Bhat from Armulla #Pulwama. Affiliated with proscribed #terroroutfit #HM. Involved in several #terrorcrime #cases. @JmuKmrPolice,” police wrote on Twitter.

The firefight broke out after a joint team of Army’s 53RR and SOG Budgam launched a cordon and search operation in Bugam area late last night.
