Five years on Casual Laborers of Tourism Dept not being paid salaries, families starve

Srinagar: Scores of casual laborers working with Tourism department on Wednesday held a protest demonstration at Director tourism office Srinagar demanding release of pending wages.

Fayaz ahmad President of casual labourers Tourism Department  said that  their remunerations are pending since 2014 floods.“We requested our director and department many times but none listens to us,” Fayaz said.


According to Fayaz orders directing release of wages was issued on October 24, 2018, and another order was issued for the same on January 1, 2019, however, orders were never followed.

“The Tourism director along with Commissioner Secretary Tourism asked us to submit the attendance promising salaries soon. That soon is yet to happen,” protesting casual laborers complained.

They claimed that orders for releasing wages was issued against mere 14 casual laborers while  328 such employees have been ignored.

“Our families are being pushed to starvation,” they rued.

They urged Governor Jammu and Kashmir Satya Pal Malik to look into their plight and release their salaries pending since five years so that they can have a sigh of relief.(KNO)
