At least 13 people were injured in a train accident near Kanpur when 12 coaches of the Howrah-New Delhi Poorva Express derailed from the track, reports said.
The train travelling from Prayagraj to New Delhi lost the track at around 1 am near Rooma industrial estate, some 15 kilometres away from Kanpur. In the accident, coaches have been damaged although no causality has been reported.
After the incident, 15 ambulances were rushed to the accident site to take injured passengers to the hospital. A 45-member team from the National Disaster Response Force is also at the spot.
According to the passengers, they had heard a loud explosion before they were thrown off their seats.
However, Indian Railways spokesperson Smita Vats Sharma told the media that a relief train with medical equipment had also reached the site. He also confirmed that no casualties, no serious injuries had been reported.
