Tral gunfight: Two militants killed, three soldiers injured

Srinagar :Two militants were killed in a fierce gunfight that started Thursday morning between government Forces and local militants in Gulshanpora area of Tral.

Reports said that a group of Militants hiding in the area opened fire upon a joint party of government forces in the area which resulted in an encounter.

Earlier, based on a credible input about militant presence in the area forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area.

The CASO was jointly conducted by 42 Rashtriya Rifles, Central Reserve Police Force and Jammu Kashmir Police.

During the intermittent firing of almost several hours, three government Fforce personnel suffered injuries and two militants were also killed.

As soon as the news of the encounter spread in the nearby areas, hundreds of people hit  the streets and threw stones on government forces, who responded with intense tear smoke shelling.

In  the action of the forces, at several persons were injured with 6 of them receiving pellet injuries in areas adjoining Gulshanpora,

Earlier mobile internet services were snapped down in the area as a ‘precautionary’ measure to avoid any ‘Law and order situation’

The operation is still on, as no dead body has been recovered as of yet, The Kashmiriyat reported adding that search operation is going on in the area.

As per initial reports, the slain militants are locals and are affiliated to Hizb ul Mujahideen.
