‘Surrender and return to mainstream,’ top Army commander tells militants

Srinagar: Claiming the Saturday’s encounter a major success for government forces, 15 Corps Commander Lt General Anil Bhatt urged local militants of the Valley to surrender and return to mainstream, ANI reported on Sunday.

The statement came a day after top Al Badr Commander, Zeenat-ul Islam was killed along with his associate in Yaripora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.


Bhatt told ANI that army made the appeal as forces will continue their operations in Kashmir.

Bhatt was quoted by ANI as saying, “This was a major success for the security forces in the Kashmir valley. My message to the local terrorists operating in the valley is to return to the mainstream and surrender as we will continue to hit terrorists hard and continue eliminating the terrorists’ leadership,”

Bhatt who is in-charge of the operations in the Kashmir was speaking after the government forces killed Islam, who was A++ category militant and his associate on Saturday evening.
