Shopian shuts down for second day to mourn militant killings

Srinagar: For the second consecutive day Monday, a complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s Shopian district to pay tribute to slain Al Badr militants.

Locals said that all business establishments, shops are closed and the vehicles are also off the roads.


As per the reports the deployment of forces has been heightened in sensitive areas of the district while scores of people are heading towards the house slain Al-Badr commander, Zeenat-ul Islam to pay condolences to the family.

Zeenat-ul Islam, Al Badr Commander was killed along with his associate Shakeel Ahmad in an encounter in Yaripora area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday evening.

The mobile internet services also have been suspended in the district for security reasons.
