Srinagar: President of Kashmir Bachao Tehreek Abdul Gani Vakil on Friday said National Conference President Farooq Abdullah was the first politician from Kashmir to partner with the BJP and its ideological mentor Rashstriya Sewak Sangh for the sake of power and lacks moral authority to seek votes in the name of fighting rightwing forces.

Reacting strongly to Abdullah’s remarks that next election would be a direct fight between NC and RSS, Vakil, as per statement issued , said NC has been befooling and hoodwinking the people of Kashmir right from 1947.

“Farooq Abdullah has been changing colours like chameleons to grab power. He is once again out to befool the people in the name of fighting against rightwing forces. He has rendered every service to earn goodwill of RSS. Kashmiris know it was Farooq Abdullah who chanted slogans of “Bharat Matta Ki Jai’’ before BJP-RSS bosses in New Delhi,” he said, adding Abdullah didn’t hesitate to say that he is ready to lay the foundation stone of Ram Mandir to please RSS and Jan Sanghis.

Abdullah’s pro-RSS statements have hurt the sentiments of Muslims of India and Jammu & Kashmir.

Vakil said Abdullah joined hands with BJP to induct his son Omar Abdullah in Union council of ministers and expelled Saifuddin Soz from the party for toppling the RSS government.

“Omar Abdullah did not even protest when BJP-led government threw the autonomy resolution into dustbin. The NC can go to any extent to grab power,” he said.

He lambasted National Conference leadership for exploiting people in the name of protection of Article 370.“ NC is one of the eroders of the Article 370,” he said, adding that NC’s all –weather friend Congress is the chief architect in undermining and bulldozing the special status of J&K,” he said.

Adding that people of Kashmir will never forgive NC, Congress and PDP for extending Central laws to Jammu and Kashmir through constitutional applications order
“42 constitution application orders have been made applicable to J&K by Government of India through active collaboration and facilitation of NC, PDP and Congress.”

He said Farooq Abdullah can stoop to any extent for grabbing power. “The Congress leadership ditched NC on every occasion from Sheikh Abdullah to Faroq Abdullah but still NC partnered with Congress party. This clearly indicates that NC can go to any extent to grab power even at the cost of honour and respect of its leader,” he said.

Besides others who addressed the convention include spokesperson Hakim Parvez, Zonal President Ghulam Hassan Lone and District Organizer Gh Mohd Shagoo. (KNS)

Kashmir needs independent journalism…

…now, more than ever to give a voice to the voiceless. The press in Kashmir has operated under tremendous pressures of reporting from a conflict zone but since August 2019 we find ourselves in unchartered territory. The Kashmir Walla is among the oldest independent media outlets in Kashmir and has withstood successive lockdowns as well as attempts to suppress us, fighting back with authoritative ground reports based on facts.

We believe in making the powers that be accountable to their actions but to also hold the mirror to the society. We believe in covering all sides of the story and that empowerment in essence means the ability to make informed decisions. As such we have not allowed our journalism to be influenced by the pressures.

Despite the new and still unknown pressures, we are all the more committed to keep informing you of events and stories that matter. Our recent coverage of events has brought us an increased readership. However, the coronavirus pandemic and resultant economic crisis has affected our operational capabilities. We are facing an existential threat but only your support can help us withstand this and maintain our editorial independence.

We need your solidarity to keep our journalism going. Your contribution will empower us to keep you informed on stories that matter from Kashmir. Show your solidarity by joining our members community. Kashmir thanks you.
