Srinagar: Amid cordon and search operation (CASO), the army resorted to aerial firing as intense clashes erupted between government forces and protesters in Redwani Bala area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.

Quoting sources The Kashmiriyat reported  that hundreds of youth amid high pitch pro independence sloganeering hit the streets of Redwani as soon as forces reached the village where a CASO was underdway.

The CASO was launched following specific inputs about militant movement in the area.

As soon as the forces launched the search operation, protesters hurled stones on the forces, who retaliated with immense tear smoke shelling upon protesters.

“The army fired dozens of aerial shots to disperse the protesters,” a local said.

He said, however, the clashes were going on.
