Srinagar: An army personnel posted in the Armoured Corps in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district on Sunday was allegedly arrested for sharing information to Pakistan spy agency ISI after being honey-trapped on social media.
He was produced before the court and will be interrogated by intelligence officials. However, according to the reports, the information is unlikely to be sensitive as the person is too junior to have access to it.
He was identified as Sombir, and was chatting continuously with an ISI operative who used the profile ‘Anika Chopra’. He was alleged for sharing information about his unit and their movements through Facebook.
Following the incident, the Army has now started tracking another Facebook accounts to check if the Pakistan operatives are in connection with any other persons or officers.
“The jawan has been arrested in Jaisalmer by the Rajasthan Police and the Army is providing all possible assistance to the civilian authorities in this investigation,” quoted defense official Colonel Sambit Ghosh saying to the news agency ANI.
