Amid shutdown thousands participate in funeral of slain militants in Awantipora

Srinagar: Thousands of people on Friday participated in the funeral of three slain militants killed on Thursday in an encounter with government forces in Tral area of south Kashmir.

Witnesses said that huge funerals were held for the slain militants at their native areas of Chursoo and Laribal amid a complete shutdown.


They said that four rounds of funeral prayers each were held for Touseef Ahmad Thoker and Zubair Ahmed Bhat at Chursoo, Awantipora.

As per reports a gun salute was offered for Shakoor Ahmad in Tral.

Meanwhile a complete shutdown is being observed in south Kashmir’s  Tral town of Pulwama district and its adjoining areas.

As per reports all business establishments and other daily need shops in these areas are closed and traffic is also off the roads.

Scores of people are visiting the houses of the slain militants in Tral and Chursoo, for condolences.

The slain militants were affiliated with the Hizbul Mujahideen and JeM outfits.

Pertinently,  this was the first encounter in 2019 in which three militants and a soldier were killed.
