National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peoples Conference (PC) got new entrants in the party fold that include Imran Raza Ansari, Abid Raza Ansari, Syed Basharat Bukhari, Peer Muhammad Hussain, Raja Aijaz Ali, Abbas Wani, Suhail Bukhari and others joined the different mainstream political parties ahead of the polls.

The political parties said that the joining of new persons in the party are aimed to strengthen the respective parties at grass-roots level and also people are getting better choices on ground.

National Conference (NC) General Secretary, Ali Muhammad Sagar said that the new entrants are joining the party after the recommendations of people with an aim to strengthen the party at grass-roots level.

He added that there is dearth of potential of candidates ahead of elections at some places, which are being filled to strengthen the party. “It is not possible that all the new entrants will get the mandate but the new entrants are helping the party to strengthen it at grass-roots level,” he added.

Sagar said that whatever the party is doing is being done only after the recommendations of the people. “From past some days, new faces are joining the party after the high command takes a final call over their joining,” he added.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief spokesman, Rafi Ahmad Mir told said that it is good development that new faces are joining the politics as at the end of the day, people are getting more choices to elect their members in the elections.

“The new entrants bring a hope of good choice among the people. Kashmir needs independent journalism…

…now, more than ever to give a voice to the voiceless. The press in Kashmir has operated under tremendous pressures of reporting from a conflict zone but since August 2019 we find ourselves in unchartered territory. The Kashmir Walla is among the oldest independent media outlets in Kashmir and has withstood successive lockdowns as well as attempts to suppress us, fighting back with authoritative ground reports based on facts.

We believe in making the powers that be accountable to their actions but to also hold the mirror to the society. We believe in covering all sides of the story and that empowerment in essence means the ability to make informed decisions. As such we have not allowed our journalism to be influenced by the pressures.

Despite the new and still unknown pressures, we are all the more committed to keep informing you of events and stories that matter. Our recent coverage of events has brought us an increased readership. However, the coronavirus pandemic and resultant economic crisis has affected our operational capabilities. We are facing an existential threat but only your support can help us withstand this and maintain our editorial independence.
