Srinagar: Five more youth were killed in Pulwama taking the civilian death toll in government forces action to seven in the southern Kashmir district.
Dr. Abdul Rashid Para, Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Pulwama, while speaking to The Kashmir Walla over phone confirmed that six civilians were brought dead to the hospital. Another injured civilian succumbed to his injuries at SMHS hospital in Srinagar.
As per reports, over 60 civilians have been injured among which some have been referred to hospitals in Srinagar.
They were injured in government forces action near the site of the gunfight at Sirnoo area, in which three militants are confirmed to dead.
The deceased have been identified as Liyaqat Dar of Parigam, Suhail Ahmad of Ballow, Shahbaaz of Monghama, Pulwama. The body of sixth youth lying in the hospital is yet to be identified.
An official from Pulwama district hospital said over phone that there is chaos in the hospital due to rising number of injured arriving. Protests still continued in in and around the gunfight site till this report was filed.
In the gunfight, three militants were killed and two army soldiers injured. Earlier two civilians identified as Amir Ahmad Paul and Abid Hussain Lone, an MBA pass out from Indonesia were killed as government forces resorted to live ammunition besides pellets and tear smoke shells near the encounter site to chase away the protesters.
One army personnel succumbed to his injuries.
