Nawaz was killed by forces along with his associate Yawar of Litter Pulwama, as they cordoned off the area for search operation after receiving the inputs of their presence of militants in the area.

Thousands reached to their native villages, Butnoora and Rebban, as their bodies were received by the family members.

Nawaz, a PG student in Urdu, is the first ‘new age militant’ of village Rebban Shopian. He had joined militant ranks in June this year. Nawaz was popularly known as Furqan Bhai.

Police have also advised people for remaining away from the encounter site as there can be stray explosives that can be dangerous for people.

The duo were yet to be laid to rest in their respective graveyards when this report was filed.
