In pictures: Funeral of militant, civilian killed in Shopian area

Thousands of people on Sunday attended funeral procession of slain militant killed in an encounter at Khudpora area of south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Braving chilling cold, thousands of mourners participated in the funeral procession of slain militant  Irfan Ahmad Bhat in his native village.

Eyewitnesses said that despite snow and cold, mourners including women and children attended the funeral of Bhat.

Amidst pro-freedom and pro-Pakistan slogans, Bhat was buried at around 2:00 pm.

Meanwhile in Gagren village of south Kashmir’s Shopian distict hundreds of people including men and women attended the funeral procession of a civilian, Shahid Manzoor Mir  killed during the encounter.

Police claimed that Shahid was involved in ‘terror’ related incident, however they have refrained from  terming him a militant or an OGW.

Locals on Sunday rejected police claims regarding killed civilian maintaining that Mir was innocent.
