The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) while expressing shock over killing of  Tehreek-e-Hurriyat leader Mir Hafizullah, has called for a complete shutdown on Thursday 22nd November 2018 and peaceful protests after Friday prayers on 23rd November.

In a statement issued to press JRL comprising of Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Dr. Mohammad Umar Farooq and Mohammad Yasin Malik  said: “Indian rulers through their local collaborators have always played beastic role of eliminating political activists, who raise their voice against this unholy and unjustified forced occupation.”

JRL said that Hafizullah was a highly educated, sensible and visionary pro-freedom leader and his sincerity, dedication and sacrifices have earned him a distinguished place and status in the state political circles especially South Kashmir.

“In2016 he played a pivotal and central role for about 5 months to sustain that movement and gave a very tough time to the government forces and finally they trapped him in a deceitful manner, the statement read.

Adding that Mir was behind the bars most of the time and was recently released after about two years.

“Authorities tried very hard to break his will and threatened him with dire consequences if he did not toe their line, when they failed to bow him down, they decided to eliminate him physically, “ the statement further read.

Adding that for the last couple of months he received suspicious phone calls, and even was threatened and harassed

JRL has announced a day long complete shutdown against this ‘barbarism and inhuman act’ on Thursday 22nd November 2018 and peaceful protests after Friday prayers on 23rd November to show the solidarity with the movement and ‘martyrs’, who laid their lives to end this age old slavery.

JRL also paid rich and glorious tributes to Mir Hafizullah and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
