Srinagar: A gunfight started between militants and government forces in Kulgam district of South Kashmir on Tuesday before dawn.
After a Cordon and Search operation in the area upon receiving a specific input about the presence of some militants, the exchange of gunfire started in Redwani Bala area of Kulgam district.
A local resident told The Kashmir Walla over phone that the gunshots continued for some time, and heavy contingent of forces has laid a siege in the area.
In wake of the gunfight, mobile internet services were snapped in Kulgam and Anantnag districts of South Kashmir.
As per reports, the operation is led jointly by 1RR of army, SOG of Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF.
Officials sources said that 2 to 3 militants are believed to be trapped inside a residential house.
