Despite incessant rains thousands of people on Friday participated in the funeral of Tehreek ul Mujahidin militant Naseer Teli, killed in a gunfight with government forces at Sagipora area of Handwara in north Kashmir on Thursday night.
Teli, a resident of Gulabad Arampora area of Handwara had joined militant ranks recently.
Reports said the body of Teli’s was given to his family at 2 am in the night and was laid to rest amid massive protest and pro-freedom slogans at 10 pm in Chinkipora area of Sopore in which thousands of people participated.
Teli was killed in a brief gunfight with government forces when he and his other associates were traveling in a car.
Meanwhile, strict restrictions have been placed in parts of Sopore to prevent protests against the killing.
