Thousands of people on Wednesday participated in the funeral of a local Jaish-e-Muhammad militant who was killed along with the nephew of outfit’s chief Maulana Masood Azhar in a gun-battle in Tral area of this south Kashmir district.
According to local sources, since early morning, hundreds of people thronged the house of Showkat Ahmad Khan at Handoora Tral, whose charred body was recovered from the encounter site in Chankitar village of Tral on Tuesday evening.
However, “three round of funeral prayers were offered for the slain militant as more and more people joined in,” locals said.
Khan’s body was being carried in a procession to the martyrs graveyard for burial when the last report was filed.
Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observed in Tral Township against the killing of Jaish militants, local sources added. (Agencies)
