Restrictions imposed in downtown Srinagar to thwart JRL protests

Authorities  on Friday imposed strict restrictions in Downtown parts of  Srinagar city to prevent the protest call given by joint resistance leadership  against the killing of militants and civilian by the government forces in Wednesday.

Government forces has set up restriction points  in Nowhatta, Khanyar, Rainawari, M.R.Gunj, Safa Kadal and Maisuma police station area while the deployment government forces has been increased.

The Joint Resistance Leadership in a statement has also asked the Imams to highlight the “excesses committed by the forces” during their Friday sermons.

Educational institutions in  Srinagar have been  shut to prevent student protests.

Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq who delivers sermons at Srinagar’s grand mosque has been placed under house arrest.
