A complete shutdown is being observed in the Valley in response to the call given by joint resistance leadership (JRL) against the killing of top Hizbul Mujahideen militant Sabzar Ahmad Sofi and his associate in an encounter with government forces in Srinagar outkirts.
Sabzar Sofi 31, a scholar turned militant and his associate Asif Shergojri were killed in a an encounter at Nowgam on the outskirts of Srinagar on Wednesday.
In Srinagar, all shops and business establishments and fuel stations are closed. While thin flow of traffic on the otherwise busy roads of this capital city is being witnessed.
In Srinagar’s downtown, restrictions have been imposed in many areas to foil any protests against the killing of Hizb militants. Meanwhile, reports of a complete shutdown have also been received from other towns of north, south and central Kashmir.
