Chief Minister of  Uttar Pradesh  Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the Sikhs and Hindus were safe in Kashmir only till Hindu king ruled the state, India Today reported.

Addressing an event of the state Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unit to reach out to the Sikh community, UP CM said, “Everyone knows about the situation in Kashmir. In the past lakhs of people including Sikhs had to migrate from the state. After the Hindu rule was gone from there, those belonging to the Hindu community also faced a downfall.”

“We will soon be naming institutions after Guru Nanakji, Guru Gobind Singh and other renowned personalities who have contributed to the nation. When I went to Patna, I also visited Patna Sahib. Our government has already ordered a Special Investigation Team in the 1984 Sikh riots. Some people are trying to create a divide in the society, we have to be careful, otherwise, the Afghanistan-like situation will arise,” Adityanath said.

The UP CM also mentioned that the name of Lord Ram figures the most in Sikh Guruwani.
