Congress wins 72 wards so far in Municipal polls


Srinagar: After Congress made a clean sweep in Leh, winning all 13 seats, BJP could not open the account.

Congress was also declared winner in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district, were it won  20 seats out of 25.

Meanwhile, it has also won 12 seats in Bandipora district and five in Sumbal, Ganderbal were Independents have majority.

In Baramulla, Congress is in majority with 12 wards out of 21 and BJP got just six wards.

Congress party has won ten wards in the just concluded polls for the Kokernag municipality committee.

The polling was held for only four wards of the committee while eight candidates were elected unopposed. One ward had no nomination.

So far the Congress has won total of 62 seats. While as two mainstream parties were on poll boycott over Supreme Courts pending decision on article 370, Congress and the BJP were directly fighting for the Municipal seats.
