Class work suspended in educational institutes in Kupwara

Authorities have ordered closure of all educational institutions in the frontier Kupwara district amid fears of protests against the killing of top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Mannan Bashir Wani and his associate in a gunfight with government forces last week.

Class work in all the schools and colleges in the north Kashmir district remained suspended today as a ‘precautionary measure’, officials said.

Wani, a scholar turned Hizb commander and his associate were killed in an encounter with government forces in Shatgund village of the district on Thursday.
