Kashmir shuts down against civilian killing in Srinagar

A shutdown is being observed in Kashmir valley on Friday against the killing of a youth in Srinagar on Thursday during a forces operation.

All shops, business establishments, and educational institutions are closed in Srinagar city while public transport, except private vehicles, is off the roads.

Authorities have imposed restrictions in many downtown parts of Srinagar to thwart protests with government forces manning the streets.

The protest shutdown call was given by the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik against the killing of Saleem Malik during a CASO in Noorbagh area of Srinagar.

Reports of shutdown have also been recieved from other districts of Kashmir.
