Handwara, Langate shuts down to mourn militant killings

A complete shutdown is being observed in Langate and Handwara towns of the frontier Kupwara district against the killing of two local Lashkar militants in a gun-battle with government forces on Tuesday.

All shops, offices and business establishments in Langate and Handwara are closed to mourn the killing of Lashkar militants Liyaqat Ahmad Lone of Sopore, and Furqan Rashid Lone of Shartpor Langate, locals told The Kashmir Walla.

They said that little private traffic was plying on the roads in Handwara and Langate , while as public transport was off the roads

Both Lashkar militants were killed in a gunfight with government forces in Galoora village in Handwara in the wee hours of Tuesday.
